Crushed hazelnut brittle or in a less fancy way: caramelised hazelnuts. Even though some state that this recipe was first invented in USA, I would say that hazelnut brittles were made much earlier before Columbus even went to America. Pastelaki, a nut brittle, was made in Ancient Greece and looks like the ‘ascendant’ of this sweet.
If you prefer almonds or peanuts over hazelnuts, you can also use it.
You can find the recipe on my blog under the granola recipe. -

This type of helva (Un Helvasi) is made of only 4 ingredients. The name ‘helva’ is of Arab origin and means ‘good’ or ‘sweet’. When we look at the Turkish helva history, we see that it was especially made on special occasions such as the birth of the sultan’s child. The sultan ordered to make helva and give it to the people as a good deed. There was even a special building called ‘Helvahane’ where this dessert was made. Furthermore a wide range of helva variations existed (34 different helva!) whereas nowadays the most common ones are semolina helva (irmik helvasi) and flour helva (un helvasi).
I will upload the recipe tomorrow on my blog. -

Ali Nazik is a dish made of eggplant purée, yogurt and meat. It’s said that the dish was first made for a sultan in the 16th century. The sultan asked whose ‘gentle hand’ made it (eli nazik). Over time the name changed from ‘eli nazik’ to ‘Ali Nazik’.

Cigköfte is translated to ‘raw meat balls’ and is one of the traditional meals from Turkey’s city Adiyaman. The original recipe is made with ground lamb but nowadays the vegetarian version with bulgur is popular (and healthier). The origin of cigköfte is traced back to the time when Abraham lived. According to the narration King Nimrod wanted to execute Abraham with a giant execution pyre and therefore collected all the firewood. Since the people had no fuel to cook their meat, they mashed it and added bulgur and spices to it. This way cigköfte was created.
We made cigköfte at my uncle’s place yesterday. Well, my aunt knead it and I was allowed to shape them #eattheworld #ontheblog #heresmyfood #cookingtime #gloobyfood #instafood #food #foodblog #lovefood #feedfeed #comfortfood #sweettooth #baking #recipeoftheday #igfood #baklava #dessert #turkey #cigköfte #turkey #spices

Candied almonds with Lebkuchen spice mix. I think I should have taken it out 2 mins earlier to give it a more ‘typical Christmas market look’ but there wasn’t a change of the taste. I will upload the recipe later on.

Even though the fillings ‘crushed pistachios’ and ‘crushed walnuts’ are widely known, Baklava was made with different variations during the Ottoman Empire such as with cheese. It was served (and in some restaurants still is) with ayran. That way, one would always taste the baklava like it’s the first bite. Drinking ayran with baklava might sound gross but it’s also healthier since it regulates your blood sugar. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should definitely do it. Oh, and the baklava recipe is on the blog.

The origin of salted caramel is actually in France. French patisserie chef Pierre Hermé invented salted caramel macarons in the 1990s. American chefs liked and adopted the concept so much that the salted caramel became popular. You can find the recipe on the blog.

🥦 Broccoli soup. If you want your soup to be as green as possible you should do these two:
1) Scald your broccoli in boiling water for approximately one minute. Then take them out and put them into iced water. This method is called blanching and stops enzyme actions which can cause loss of color.
2) You can also add a piece of spinach a few minutes before your soup’s ready. #soup #lunch #food

I know it’s quite early to do a post about how 2018 has been but I felt like doing one since I have noticed or remembered once again quite a lot of stuff.. so here it goes:
Whenever your gut says not to do something, don’t. No matter who tries to convince you, listen to your intuition because in the end your intuition will be right.
Pay attention to how people act and not what they say. It’s easier said than done but it’s so important. People can preach you a loooot of stuff and never stick to it. Or even better: They lie to justify their actions. Stay away from that kind of people.
Be true to yourself and kind. In a world where the evil ones might be celebrated, appreciated, be kind, helpful and honest. I can’t tell you how often people told me not to be ‘that’ honest or ‘too’ nice but no, I prefer to stick to what I believe is the right thing to do. No matter how many people might be devious, I’m not and I will stay true to myself in sha Allah. As long as there are enough people who try to make the world a better place, one day it will be.
Referring to this, you should still be careful whom you give a second chance though. If a person is poisonous to you, cut your ties with that person. It’s not worth it to spend time hoping something will change because it won’t.
Always strive to be successful no matter what you do. If someone is not self-confident at all and feels ‘offended’ from your success, then stay away from that person, too. I don’t know what you think about that point but I think someone with a healthy attitude and self-confidence should not feel offended from someone’s success but rather be happy for that person. Plus, I would wish to learn more from that person rather than to be jealous.🤷‍️
Be respectful to your parents and to those who appreciate you.. aaand spend more time with them Show them how much you care for them. Spread the love

So these were my two cents so far I would like to thank to those who have read it till the end, love you guysthanks for your patience & good night
