I've been doing a lot of landscape photography lately (no complaints about that). But, it's so good to get back to some travel photography in one of my favorite travel destinations.
New video up on my channel from here in Kotor!

Bow Lake
This photo was a slog to make. Without snow shoes I delicately walked across the crusted top levels of snow at Lake O'Ohara. And though I'd occasionally fall though and have to crawl out of waist deep snow, I finally made it to this view.
I sat for over an hour waiting for the light.
Then, after a couple minutes of photo taking, I decided to take the fast way down. I slid down the slope like a human toboggan.
However, when I got to the bottom and started walking across the snow pack I unknowingly walked across a creek that was flowing under the snow. I fell through chest deep. The snow was so wet from the spring warmth that it solidified when I went through. I was stuck.
I couldn't move my legs or feet.
So, after a couple calming breaths, I started digging myself out. Eventually, I got loose and swam out of the snow and back to more stable ground. Eventually I got back. And never have I appreciated a fireplace more than the one at Elizabeth Parker hut when I eventually made it back.

I'm gonna miss these Canadian roads.
Tomorrow, I'm heading to Trentino, Italy... I haven't been sharing anything here on IG from Canada, but I've been all over the place. Lots of new stuff over on my YouTube, and I'm going to start sharing some images from the trip here soon too!

Who knew Antigua had such an epic landscape photography location?
During my week on the island, I actually found a bunch of cool spots. I need to get back at some point!

A massive change from Patagonia, I'm up at a conference in @antiguaandbarbuda. I'm not going to lie. I'm loving the sun, warmth and humidity.
On the first day here, we got up to a point called Shirley Heights. The views over English Harbour are stunning.

100k.
I feel like I’m supposed to make a speech. So here it is.
100k doesn’t matter. It means nothing.
Social media is a trap for photographers.  Like the perfect photo, it’s a chase you’ll continue endlessly. And, sure, it’s a fun chase - and you’ll have adventures on the way. But, it’s a trap.
I think photographers see social media too often as a shortcut or an excuse. Neither will get you where you want to be.
It’s an excuse because we too often think, “when I reach 100k people will hire me.” Or, “I can’t get work because I don’t have enough followers”.
The reality is, there are no shortcuts in this industry, and if you seek them out, you’ll never make it. Or when you do, you’ll find it’s unsustainable or inauthentic.
The legends of photography didn’t find work or fame on social media. They found it by grinding it out, by putting in the hours, by taking the risks, and by pure dedication to personal and professional growth.
Social media is a quick drug hit. But the high doesn’t last. Not nearly as long as the high from the pride of reaching career goals and looking back at the work you put in and thinking, “damn, look how far I’ve come!”
So, as hypocritical as it might sound for someone who just crossed 100k followers on Instagram to say, stop chasing likes. Stop chasing “likes” from strangers on the internet, and start chasing self-fulfillment.  Start chasing your dreams.

Punta Arenas, Chile
This was taken in the most typical day in Patagonia of all time.
We started the hike in winds that had us walking at a 45 degree angle.
When we arrived at the lake, the stars were showing.
Then, it was calm.
Eventually, it started snowing.
Afterwards, we rushed to wipe all the snow and water off our gear in time to capture some beautiful fleeting light.
Finally, we walked away in a blizzard.
This was the last photo I took on #patascape2019. What a phenomenal month. Massive thanks to all the participants for joining us on the adventure!
