...
“The sacrifice... that's the price of a good trick” - People ask who made a greater sacrifice – Robert Angier (@thehughjackman) or Alfred Borden (@christianbale_). We would say Vidya Balan (@balanvidya) made a more difficult and painful one – becoming a brand ambassador for a name which already had the faces of two superstars🤭
...
Conceptualizing the artwork, taking the words of the movie “The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary” a bit overboard, that is Alfred Borden…no Freddy Fallon...(whomever you like) holding ‘The Prestige’ (read cooker) in his hand. Obviously, there must have been a pledge and a turn, but this is as they say the ‘hardest part’ – The Prestige. Since the movie is based on the rivalry between fellow magicians, the use of a magician’s hat and the doves give the theatrical feel of a magic act. And the use of gloves for the hand – well you need to watch the masterpiece movie for that.

Wohooooo…..2018 is bidding adieu and for ChuriPuri it was a tumultuous and exciting journey at every juncture. We had the first ever display of our works to a humongous crowd and alongside numerous talented artists at the Mumbai ComicCon 2018.
...
@comicconindia was unmistakably the highlight of our year. It was like the strictest teacher in our life who pushed us to our limits and gave the best lessons that we could learn from. The path was surely difficult and the investment huge. But the euphoria of your ideas resonating with the crowd and getting praise for it was bliss. All of it was possible because of a lot of support along the way. Experienced people and super awesome human beings were ready to pour out all that they had learned and we made sure each advice was properly absorbed. The blessings of our parents and well-wishers helped us go that extra mile. We laughed, we cried under stress, we fought, we got tensed, we got elated but we emerged out learning a hell lot of things. We had super awesome conversations with artists we admire.
...
Being passionate enough to pursue something you love doing as your monetary source sounds cool, but it comes with its own set of risks and rewards. ComicCon 2018 wasn’t a profitable deal for us monetarily, but it gave us the confidence of setting up more such stalls and to make a profit very soon
...
Not only did @la.memoire_ek.athavan capture all these amazing moments for us, but also shared sleepless nights working with us in the final days. He is a super awesome friend and an amazing photographer.

PS: We will shortly be giving a glimpse of all our amazing products to you all and come up with more amazing artworks in the year to come. Stay tuned..!

‘Change is the only constant’ – we try explaining this to our hearts when we are nervous about giving up the predictable end or anxious to tread onto a new beginning. But change is grueling – more importantly when it comes to the people in our lives. And so Syd Barrett, leaving the band left @rogerwaters in a flurry of emotions – many of which are accentuated in the music of @pinkfloyd.
...
Conceptualizing the artwork, there are two girls performing in a fish bowl symbolizing the famous line “We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl” from the famous ninth studio album – Wish You Were Here by the English rock band Pink Floyd. Additionally, we incorporated the album art cover of the eight album where there is a prism refracting a wave of white light by showing the white light on the left side of the glass bowl which is spilt into the seven colors on the opposite side. Lastly, an anaglyphic (where two images are superimposed and printed in different colors, producing a stereo effect) feel is given to the two dancing souls in the artwork to represent the psychedelic music that helped Pink Floyd achieve international acclaim.
...
Every change is a transformational journey from “Cold comfort for change” (where we question ourselves whether the change is really required) to “The same old fears” (where we discover that even at the end of that tunnel of change, we have to face the same old fears which persuaded us to change). So why wait? Let’s hop on for an amazing journey where our fears split and become a colorful world for us…!
...
PS. It took us a lot of time to conceptualize this artwork and we are super happy with the output. Hope you all are as happy.

We are loving how the animations are enhancing the artworks. And so, here's one more. Rain animation for Ryuk..! PS. We're having a super low frequency of posts/artworks for the time being since we have been tied up with meeting up with printers and framing vendors to ensure that there is no compromise on the product quality. Finally after a lot of recommendations about this series, created the Shinigami who loves apples - Ryuk. Someone whose actions are mostly a result of wanting to see something interesting, Ryuk is intelligent and is unaffected by the mocking he receives from other Shinigami for it.
...
Conceptualizing the artwork, the rains have been added to give a gloomy feel to the artwork to justify the gloominess death brings with it. The appearance of Ryuk has been kept intact with large, round yellow eyes with bright red irises, spiky hair, sharp, pointed teeth and retractable feather-like wings on his back.
...
The preacher of An apple a day keeps the doctor away in the Manga World, Ryuk has a great fondness for apples, stating the addiction to be an equivalent of cigarettes and alcohol for humans. Since the Shinigami apples are withered and taste like sand, Ryuk admires the ones from the human world saying And what's the best way to describe this....Juicy..!

Compensating for all the fun we had without work, we have been working rigorously for our online store since we want it to go live before the #MumbaiComicCon which is just a month away. Building an online store is a mammoth task (we’ll have a blog about on, maybe?). But the exciting part is creating value for our artworks by using them on a number of amazing products. We have been experimenting with a number of products to see what products go well with our artworks. We have been visiting different vendors, some good some bad, some who treat us as kids and some who take us seriously. Getting quotations for various products, estimating the quantity and the cost and at the same time not compromising on the quality is our focus.

He has made the transition as seamlessly as his superheroes change universes and is one among the locales now. With time at hand, he decides to reflect on what his life on Earth was all about. What lands in his hand is #Excelsior! : The Amazing Life of #StanLee, the autobiography of the co-creator of Spider-Man, The X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, and a legion of other superheroes. Turning through the pages of the book, he cannot help being awestruck (like WHAAAT..!) with what he and his superheroes have achieved and the artwork is exactly him in the alternate universe right now.

May the man who shaped so many lives with the anecdotes of struggles, achievements, failure, relationships by assimilating the human in a superhero, rest in peace.

Rick and Morty is one of the twistiest and philosophical shows on television. The way in which each episode is narrated and the suspense unfolds in a horrifying burrrrp… and hilarious manner is making the viewers go ga-ga at each juncture. Rick and Morty is the weirdest grandfather, and grandson duo where Rick is a stereotypical mad scientist and Morty is his hysterically anxious grandson.
...
The artwork shows Rick in his most popular version – Pickle Rick. Rick has been shown standing on the killed rats with the chopped head of burrrrp… one of the rats in his hand to portray his intuitive victory over the creatures of the sewer. A combination of brushes and patterns have been used to create the murky background and the red beam of the laser gun. We used @jaredkrichevsky 3D model as a reference for the artwork.

We have often been given a lot of analogies pertaining to work-life balance, how do we achieve it and how we keep just the exact kind of balance. We are also told by our peers how harmful it is to be business partners with someone you have known since ages. Does it ruin the relationship or the business? Well, for now, we haven't ruined either.
...
Here we are, childhood friends, together for 9 years and now proudly calling ourselves business partners for our baby ChuriPuri. Yes, things look hunky-dory on the outside but trust us, to come together and take a business decision when you want to literally hit the other person in the face is a mammoth task. To let your personal grudges aside for the sake of the smooth functioning of your venture is taxing on the mind (and the heart).
...
But, when the person with whom you share the success is so close to your heart, the joy doubles and trebles with no bounds. Striving hard together and emerging out successful and seeing each other smiling with gleaming eyes is much scenic than those sunsets at the beach. To know that you are sharing your dreams with the closest person is a mesmerizing feeling.
...
This, being the 100th post, we wanted it to be special and something that is very close to us. And this is that what is special to us - the bond we share and our baby ChuriPuri. We were able to achieve this because of all of you and we dream to reach many more such milestones and smile all the way together.

When did you all forsake yourselves?, this is our favorite Gaara moment from Naruto. The other Four Kage had all once set out to bring a change, put a stop to all the wars and achieve peace in the shinobi world. As time passed, they started realizing that the reality was shifting farther from their dreams. Hence they too, just like their predecessors lost hope and started caring for their own countries and dealing conflicts with wars. Gaara, being the youngest one, had still not lost hope and dreamt of a peaceful Shinobi world.
...
I find this phenomenon quite relatable to our real lives. As we grow up, our ability to dream big decreases and we move toward a more pragmatic and secure approach towards life. Our risk-taking ability decreases too. This is one of the reasons why we decided to build ChuriPuri early on, instead of first securing our life with good-paying jobs. If you're a regular reader of Quora or follow any Startup related blogs, you'll know that all investors insist that you should start building your ventures in college itself. One of the major reasons is the ability to dream big at that age.

Design process: The new stuff that we tried in this piece is Gaara's sand. It is a combination of sand brushes and patterns. Different types of sand have been created, based on its position relative to the subject, for instance, the particles in the front are in motion and blurred, whereas the sand near Gaara tends to be static. Similarly, the additional dust and the sand in the background has been added. The color grading and defining the shadows and highlights of the sand is the most difficult part but adds life to it.

Although part of the coolness of Kisame comes from him being the partner of Itachi, I've always loved Kisame for his accent. He was saddened on hearing about Itachi's death and had decided to leave Akatsuki. In fact, even when Kisame was about to die, he remembered Itachi once telling him that we never know the kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths. His bond and loyalty towards Itachi, despite him being known for killing comrades, is what makes him closer to us.

About the artwork, all the water in this piece has been created using water brushes. The water splashes are simple brush strokes whereas the areas of water which resemble his body parts, for instance, the hand and part of the sword, are a combination of paths and brush strokes. In some parts, water brushes have been used as an overlay to give a wet look. We enjoy experimenting and trying new stuff with each piece. Thought we'd explain the new part.

As promised, here are a few fun facts about Hoshigaki Kisame which are not known to everyone -
1. The name, Kisame, literally means Demon Shark.
2. His design was inspired by Samebito (Shark Man) - a Japanese mythological creature.
3. He is the tallest Akatsuki member- 6'5.
4. His birth date, March 18, makes his Western astrological sign Pisces, or fish.
5. His skin color in the manga is pale green. It was given a bluish tint in the anime to make him more shark-like.
6. His least favorite food is Shark fin soup. I guess that's understood.

But the warning of ‘Smoking kills’ or ‘Smoking causes cancer’ on the boxes seems to have no notice of anyone. And why should it? When the warning doesn’t seem to turn into reality, it still remains to be a myth printed in black and white.

We as humans have a tendency to not believe things unless we are given an invincible evidence. And so we created an artwork portraying an Instagram influencer, whose feed screams of how grateful we should be of our bodies by “staying away from toxic people and (cigarettes)” and that giving up is not an option.
...
In the artwork is Zoe Zara, a social media influencer who suffered from a severe spinal cord injury that paralyzed her chest down. And after 8 rigorous months of recovering herself, she is back with a bang spreading awareness and positivity all around with her experiences. A smoking addict, her injury made her realize how struggling to breathe feels like. And thus, she has been stressing over how even though quitting is the slowest process, it can also lead to the most suffocating process of pain. We have also shown a gun in the smoke pointing towards the person smoking, to emphasize the fact “Smoking Kills”.

Artwork (8/8): Yayati
...
An amazing and astounding end to a perplexing series is the last episode ‘Yayati' - where Sartaj tries to glue together the clues left behind by Ganesh Gaitonde(nawazuddin._siddiqui).
...
According to the Hindu mythology, Yayati was the husband of Devayani, the daughter of Shukracharya, who was the priest of Asuras (or demons). Due to Yayati’s infidelity towards his wife, in the form of an intimate relationship with the maid of his wife, Shukracharya, cursed him with old age in the prime of his life. However, when Shukracharya acceded and let Yayati exchange his curse with any of his sons, his son Puru agreed and Yayati got his youth back in exchange of the youth of his son.
...
Referred to as the third father of Gaitonde, it is Guruji who sacrificed his son’s (Gaitonde) life in the capacity of Yayati so that he himself could live and accomplish the mission. Since Yayati’s son Puru had to face old age when he agreed to exchange the curse on his father, the artwork shows Gaitonde as an old man and Guruji in a young avatar signifying the swapping of ages between the father and the son. Yayati’s son had to bear the repercussions just like Gaitonde (agreeing to the cause of Guruji) of the mistakes committed by his father.
...
PS: We can also relate the title to how Sartaj Singh with his involvement in the 25 days warning, carries the burden of his father - the connections with the notorious criminal, Ganesh Gaitonde. @netflix_in @sacredgames_tv

Artwork (7/8): Rudra
...
Raging and flaring with animosity, seeking the righteous revenge for his lady love, the penultimate episode of the series ‘Rudra’ shows a frenzied Gaitonde wreak havoc over the death of Subhadra(@rajshri_deshpande), killing the innocent with the guilty. The episode highlights the mellow romantic side of Gaitonde’s character along with his unforgiving nature.
...
According to Hindu mythology, Rudra is a deity associated with anger, chaos or storm. Rudra, the god of the roaring storm, is considered as God of Gods and Mightiest of the Mighty. He is the personification of the terror. Rudra Tandava is the vigorous dance which was performed by Shiva to express the grief and anger over his wife’s (Sati) death.
...
The artwork portrays Subhadra as Rudra, as it was her death which was responsible for ushering the storm within Gaitonde. (Also, because we have already shown Gaitonde as Ashwathama in the first artwork of this series, we wanted to have some other character and Subhadra was the apt choice). The expression of Shiva used in the artwork is one during the Rudra Tandava. The episode, on the whole shouts out TERROR, be it Gaitonde(@nawazuddin._siddiqui) unleashing hell when his wife was killed or Suleiman Isa(@sachdeva_saurabh_tat) bombing Mumbai and shattering down Gaitonde's aids. And so, there is also an overall stormy effect given to the artwork to justify Rudra’s personification.
...
PS: As Rudra Tandava is performed to express anger, Ananda Tandava is performed to express joy. We hope that we very soon we also see Gaitonde in the character of Shiva performing the Ananda Tandava.

Artwork (6/8): Pretakalpa
...
Shattering the hopes that even though most of our beloved characters are dead, Katekar won’t disappoint us, and shifting the focus from Gaitonde – the sixth episode ‘Pretakalpa’ is a perplexing concoction of intense emotions. The meaning of the title itself fosters a wide and complex range of thoughts.
...
Pretakalpa, which talks about the cycle of life, death and beyond, is the second section of the Garuda Purana. It is read when the rites to perform the cremation of a deceased Hindu are performed. Pretakalpa also includes the hymns which are sung at the time of last rites, which is alternatively called as ‘The Last Goodbye’.
...
As it is in this episode that we encounter the saddest and staggering part of the entire series – the death of our dearest character, the artwork portrays Katekar(@jitendrajoshi27) who is half burnt to signify the travel of his character towards the ‘end’. The pierced knife in the skull is shown to signify how Katekar was stabbed to death. The black rose on the right eye is used to symbolize death and passing away, as death does not always cause mourning. It can also be the beginning of new things (just like the beginning of new Sartaj). The entangling rings have been shown to signify the never-ending cycle of life and death. The piece of paper flowing from the end of the knife has the cremation hymn written over it which is actually a part of Pretakalpa. There is also a part of a wreath placed near the neck which is usually laid on a grave. The color palette and the background are carefully and strategically used to give a gloomy feel.
...
PS. When a close relative dies, the elders always tell us that God calls good people to him first. Was the death of Katekar really a call from the Almighty or was it the consequence of the cycle of life and death? As a mother had to lose her son because of ignorance of Katekar towards the complaint of the missing child, were the children of Katekar also deprived of their father?
