Marriage is so good when you have a wife who wants to complement and not compete with you. When you have a woman who wants to fall into her biblical role and not assume yours. Veronica doesn’t naturally love cooking and cleaning and caring for children all day. She chooses to. She views wifehood and mothering and the duties that come with them as privileges she gets to partake in not chores she must endure. She’s a servant ready to honor God and His Word. She’s faithful and knows the Almighty’s design for her is far greater than any model her emotions might dream up. Therefore, she dwells in His Word. It is a lamp to her feet. It’s beautiful to watch. It’s even better to experience. #UltimateMarriage

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.”

Fathers, we must be the chief repenters and chief forgivers in our homes. We are the physical example by which our families will follow. In other words, never expect behaviors from your wife or children that you have not proven to walk in yourself.

@thelukerodgers 🔥🔥🔥 My friend.

There’s a message out there that’s infiltrating the culture and even the church. It’s a message that affirms our emotions as the guiding beacon of our life. It tells spouses that if you feel undervalued, leave. It tells singles, if you’re lonely, you’re worthless. It tells people who are hurt, hurt back. It tells men, if you’re aroused, go online. God’s Word teaches us to not believe everything you feel. It says our heart and our flesh are deceptive. Jesus teaches us not to follow Him with our emotions. In John 4:24, He tells us to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. In other words, when times are tough do not lean on what you feel about your circumstances, lean on what you know about God. Preach the truth of Scripture to your emotions, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, the truth will begin to change your emotions. This is what it means to abide in His Word. This is what it means to be firm in your faith. This is what it means to be a follower of Christ. #realchristianity

This culture has fewer fathers than any generation in recorded history. As a result, we have fewer men who can understand the deep value of women. Because a society absent of men who have raised little girls, often fails to view women as someone's child or sister or niece. Instead, they simply become orphaned females consumable in any format without consideration to who they might be to someone else. Now, I understand that being a dad won't necessarily humanize women the way that God desires, but it did for me. Every time I look at my daughter I can't help but recognized that every woman has a father who loves them—whether it's their genetic father or their heavenly Creator, someone loves these women the way I love my little girl. Because of this truth, I cannot objectify any female. I cannot reduce them to something I consume. Women, like men, are made in God's image. They are loved. They are special. And sometimes... it takes raising one to realize that. #RealChristianity

Today, my wife and I saw a lot of definitions of what it means to be a woman. So, we decided to put together a list of the Bible’s descriptions of a Christian woman. Ladies, if you dislike these descriptions, then you dislike God’s Word. However, if you love these descriptions, aspire to these virtues, then you are a daughter of the King—you are yielded to your Father regardless of popularity, your emotional perspective, or even your comfort in the face of these often difficult attributes. Keep standing in the truth ladies. The world needs more of you. #internationalwomensday

The culture has hijacked and vandalized love. We’ve reduced it to erotica and romance and sensuality. Ultimately, our society cannot express what we can no longer properly identify. While few are fooled that the media’s form of physicality is an authentic view of love, many are still convinced that weddings are. However, as Veronica and I live out our 10th year of marriage, I’m learning that even weddings are not a witness of true love. A wedding is simply the promise of love. You see, there is no love without commitment and sacrifice. Love is seen in the days and years after the wedding. It is seen when a cost has been paid and when its preservation requires pain. Love is staying when leaving is convenient and when vows are not proclamations made but behaviors walked out. Love is watching people keep choosing each other when choosing someone or something else is far easier. Love is 25th anniversaries and spouses singing hymns in hospice care. Love is praying for your wife after a fight and making your husband dinner when you’re sick. People, when we start to see love how God designed love to be seen, we can finally start showing it to others. #UltimateMarriage

My little man (Honor) turns three today. He’s the exact opposite of me. Soft, gentle, and introverted. He’s quick to obedience and wants nothing more than quality time with mom and dad. To be honest, I truly believe he will live up to his name. Thank you God for a son who makes me a better son.

There’s a world of difference between saying, “I love you and I want you to be happy.” And, “I love you and I want what’s best for you.” As Christians, we must believe that the our children will be the happiest when they are the holiest versions of themselves. They must also learn that happiness is not our aim—it is joy. And joy not because of our circumstances (which change constantly) but joy because of the Gospel. When a child has Jesus, whether they are sick or unpopular or bullied or tired or hurting they can do it all in joy, not because those things are joyful but because the joy of the Gospel can engulf those things.

We never planned to get married on Valentine’s Day. Nine years ago, our plan was to be married in September. But for a variety of reasons, I thought we shouldn’t wait that long. I called her that week and said, “What do you think about getting married this Sunday?” She said, “Sure!” We met at our pastor’s home and said our vows in his living room in the presence of a handful of family and friends. It just so happened that it was also Valentine’s Day. A bold move nine years ago but one I’ll never forget. She’s the Lord’s favor on me. Happy anniversary my love.

In the first two chapters of the Bible, we see God creating a new world for a new marriage between Adam and Eve. In the last two chapters of the Bible, we see God creating a new world for a new marriage between Christ and His Bride. You see, marriage is not just one of many themes in the Bible—marriage is the wraparound theme of the Bible. This is why biblical marriage is under such attack in our culture today. A marriage between a husband and wife is an earthly symbol of Christ and His Church. These male/female unions are God’s visual cues to remind us all of His divine plan—a love story to rescue His wife. The enemy knows this. Therefore, his plan: distort marriage, distort the Gospel. Confuse marriage, confuse the Gospel. Innovate marriage, renovate the Gospel. Christians, we protect marriage, not because it’s political we protect marriage because it’s protecting the Gospel. #UltimateMarriage

We live in world where adopting a child is nearly 40 times more expensive than aborting one. We live in a world where giving birth costs $3,500 while abortion is virtually free. We live in a world where damaging an eagle's egg will cost you $250,000 plus jail time while killing a human baby is not only legal, it can be done at the 39th week simply because you don't prefer the gender. Remember, abortion has never been about choice. Rather, it's about escaping the consequences of your choice and taking away the choice from God’s tiniest children. Christians, the Bible says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Somehow, big things always forget the power of their size. The Church of Jesus Christ is no different. Instead of being the great protector of morality in the United States, we have elected to be the quiet giant. Edmund Burke’s words from the eighteenth century are a timely rebuke for many today, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Eventually, you must ask yourself, “Why have I not spoken up?” People, it’s time to talk. It’s time to share Christ with our friends and family. It’s time to defend the defenseless. Silence cannot be an option. #NewYorkAbortionLaw
