News Reelz: When the trailer for the Sonic The Hedgehog movie was dropped, there were many complaints. Why are they using Gangsta's Paradise in the trailer? Why was this even made in the first place? Why is James Marsden in this? But the biggest complaint was the look of Sonic & congrats cinephiles! You complained so much about the design that the film has been delayed by 3 months to get the look right.
.
.
Director Jeff Fowler announced on Twitter today that the film, which Paramount is banking on as an event movie, is zooming from its November 8 release to February 14, 2020 next year so that the production can work further on character redesign.
.
.
Sonic moves away from Universal’s female romantic comedy Last Christmas, Lionsgate’s Roland Emmerich WWII pic Midway, and Warner Bros. Shining follow-up Doctor Sleep on November 8. The video game adaptation will now run up against Disney/Fox’s untitled Kingsman movie and Universal’s The Photograph. .
.
Was it right to push the film back to fix the character design? Sound off!

Happy anniversary to X-Men: Days of Future Past, released 5 years ago today. The X-Men films may be a mixed bag for some but this entry is solid in its execution featuring a compelling story & solid ensemble acting. It also rights the wrongs of X-Men: The Last Stand & deserves kudos for that fact alone. X2 is still my favorite X-Men film but this is a very close second. Are you a fan of X-Men: Days of Future Past? Sound off! In the meantime, here are some fun facts about the film:
.
.
1. The filmmakers selected the Days of Future Past storyline because it would allow the filmmakers to reconcile any continuity dissonances within the X-Men film franchise. The time-travel element also allowed actors and actresses from the first three movies, and X-Men: First Class (2011), to appear in the same movie together.
.
.
2. According to Bryan Singer, he could only get the movie started with confidence once Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, and Sir Ian McKellen agreed to return.
.
.
3. The original Days of Future Past comic mentioned time travel from the year 2013, the same year in which filming began. In this movie, the future action is implied to take place in 2023.
.
.
4. Bryan Singer filmed Quicksilver's scenes in a special format of 3,600 frames per second. This means that Quicksilver moved 150 times faster than normal. The camera was used to record close-ups and movements of Evan Peters, as well as the guards he beat.
.
.
5. Halle Berry's role as Storm had to be substantially reduced, due to her pregnancy.
.
.
6. Although Anna Paquin's screentime is only three seconds, and she has no lines, she still was one of the top billed cast members during the ending credits. The extended cut of the movie, however, restores a subplot in which she features prominently, and has therefore been dubbed The Rogue Cut.
.
.
7. This the first X-Men movie ever to be nominated for an Oscar (Best Visual Effects).
.
.
8. Stan Lee was offered a cameo, but opted out, so he could attend Fan Expo Canada in Toronto.
.
.
9. A romantic subplot between Storm and Wolverine in the future was filmed, but cut for runtime purposes.

Happy anniversary to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, released 35 years ago today! So I think this is viewed as the lesser of the original three Indiana Jones movies but I've always enjoyed this films darker tone & that it stands out from the other two. It's the dark horse of the big three & it doesn't deserve much of the criticism it gets. Are you a fan of Indians Jones and the Temple of Doom? Sound off! In the meantime, here are some fun facts about the film:
.
.
1. For the bug chamber sequence, Kate Capshaw was really covered with over two thousand insects. She took sedatives prior to the scene to get over her initial fear.
.
.
2. D.R. Nanayakkara, cast as the Indian village Shaman, did not speak a word of English. He delivered his lines phonetically by mimicking Steven Spielberg who was prompting him off-camera. The pauses in his dialogue were therefore not for dramatic effect, but rather waiting for his next line.
.
.
3. An unmade script that became Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) had Indiana reveal what happened to Willie, saying, Last I heard, she married a big-shot director. This is an in-joke, as Kate Capshaw married Steven Spielberg. (Though the joke did not make the final draft).
.
.
4. Amrish Puri shaved his head for the role of Mola Ram, creating such an impression, that he kept it shaved, and became one of India's most popular film villains.
.
.
5. Jonathan Ke Quan's film debut. He won the role over 6,000 other auditioners after he came with his brother for his audition, without the intention of auditioning.
.
.
6. Steven Spielberg said that he did not enjoy this film as much as the rest of the Indiana Jones films, but said that it was a great experience for him, because he met his future wife, Kate Capshaw, during the production of this movie.
.
.
7. Steven Spielberg's first sequel although it's technically a prequel. .
.
8. Kate Capshaw was very critical of Willie's character, saying that she was not much more than a dumb screaming blonde.
.
.
9. The chilled monkey brains were made from custard and raspberry sauce.
.
.
10. Kate Capshaw had to be taught how to scream.

The Terminator: Dark Fate trailer has arrived & while many may be cautiously optimistic about another Terminator sequel, it's damn exciting to see Linda Hamilton back in action as Sarah Connor.
.
.
At the center of the story appears to be Mackenzie’s Davis’ seemingly part-human, part-robot, who is determined to protect a young girl (Natalia Reyes) from a liquid metal Terminator (Gabriel Luna). They get some help from someone with experience when the seasoned veteran Connor shows up.
.
.
“Why do you care what happens to her?” Davis’ character asks, to which Connor responds, “Because I was her.” And fittingly she takes the two newbies to meet her protector in the past, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator.
.
.
Dark Fate serves as a reunion of sorts, with Hamilton, Schwarzenegger, and James Cameron finally all back together for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgment Day. And that’s fitting considering the new film from Deadpool director Tim Miller (Cameron is producing and helped come up with the story) will follow the events of the 1991 sequel and ignore the subsequent films.

Since the rest was still unwritten, there is apparently still more to tell about the real lives of the personalities behind MTV’s The Hills. The network is giving us another look at the revival, The Hills: New Beginnings, and it previews a small look at the next chapter in the lives of the individuals who were once MTV reality TV mainstays.
.
.
The trailer features many of your favorites from The Hills and newcomers to group Mischa Barton of The O.C. and Pamela Anderson’s son Brandon Thomas Lee at what appears to be a promo shoot for the show. New footage is pretty scarce as the trailer mostly sells the nostalgia of the old series while teasing what’s new but viewers are given glimpses of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt with their baby, Audrina Patridge and Justin “Bobby” Brescia, and Brody Jenner hanging out.
.
.
The cast also includes Stephanie Pratt, Frankie Delgado, Jason Wahler, Whitney Port, Kaitlynn Carter, Jennifer Delgado, and Ashley Wahler. The original series, a spinoff of Laguna Beach, starred Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari and ran on MTV from 2006-2010.

The first full trailer for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood has arrived & it's time to revisit 1969 in Quentin Tarantino's latest feature film.
.
.
The film tells the story of stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio's respective characters, Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton, as they try and navigate an evolving Los Angeles as the city and its starry inhabitants enter the early 1970s. Tarantino — who serves as the film's director, producer and writer — describes it as a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. .
.
The film has been touted for its Sharon Tate/Charles Manson connection & you really don't get a taste of that until the second half of the trailer. In addition to Dicaprio and Pitt, the film stars Margot Robbie as the late actress Sharon Tate who, in real life, was murdered in August 1969 by followers of Charles Manson. Along with Pitt, DiCaprio and Robbie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood features an impressive cast including Al Pacino, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern and the late Luke Perry, among others.
.
.
Tarantino is at the Cannes Film Festival to premiere Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and shared a plea on social media Monday asking Cannes audiences not to spoil the project's twists and turns. Definitely highly anticipated so I hope they heed his warning.

Happy anniversary to Terminator Salvation, released 10 years ago today! I honestly don't think this is as bad as some say but it just doesn't feel like it's part of the Terminator brand. There's fun action but ultimately the problem is there is no tone or atmosphere that makes it stand out. At the end of the day, it wasn't worth a Christian Bale shouting match (look it up) but it's not a total embarrassment either. Are you a fan of Terminator Salvation? Sound off! In the meantime, here are some fun facts about the film:
.
.
1. Special effects wizard Stan Winston died during filming (15 Jun 2008), making this the last film he provided visual effects for.
.
.
2. Old recordings of Sarah Connor are played in the film, with lines nearly word-for-word from The Terminator (1984). Linda Hamilton voiced the lines herself in an uncredited role.
.
.
3. Arnold Schwarzenegger declined to cameo in the film, stating that a brief appearance would be cheating the audience.
.
.
4. Terry Crews was cast as Captain Jericho but his scenes ended up being cut from the final film. However, Crews is still visible in one scene as a dead body left in the aftermath of a battle.
.
.
5. During filming in the summer of 2008, Christian Bale yelled and used profanity at cinematographer Shane Hurlbut, who was adjusting the light in the background while Bale was doing an intense scene and got distracted by the cinematographer. Bale's tirade was then leaked on the Internet. After it was leaked, Bale publicly apologized for his remarks and insisted that he and Hurlbut are on good terms.
.
.
6. Being released in 2009, this film marks the 25th Anniversary of The Terminator (1984)
.
.
7. Michael Ironside accepted his role in the movie, despite having just broken three vertebrae in a roofing accident. Notice that throughout the movie, he never sits down, because of the intense pain.
.
.
8. Christian Bale admits the film didn't work & thought director McG didn't have what it took to make tye movie a success. He blamed McG for the failure of the film & said he'd never work with him again.

A few of us get the text alert from Lionsgate that confirms that Chapter 4 will be released May 21, 2021. It looks like May is the new official sweet spot for the franchise.

News Reelz: It has fans divided today and the final season as a whole appears to be very polarizing but that doesn’t mean viewers weren’t glued to their TV screens watching the Game of Thrones series finale. The numbers are finally in and it has broken records for HBO.
.
.
“The Iron Throne,” written and directed by David Benioff and D.B Weiss — has broken a record for the now-completed series as well as HBO. 19.3 million viewers tuned in across linear viewing plus HBO Go and HBO Now. The 82-minute long sixth episode of the eighth and final season of the series based on George R.R. Martin’s writings was up over the previous combined high of last week’s “The Bells” by 4.9%.
.
.
In just live viewing, the episode drew 13.6 million viewers. It tops the HBO single-episode record of 13.4 million that the Season 4 opener of The Sopranos pulled off 17 years ago. HBO has pegged the last season of GoT as averaging around 44.2 million viewers domestically per episode, up around 10 million from 2017’s Season 7 average. This is across all platforms (live viewing, HBO Go, HBO Now, etc).

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum exploded out the gate with a franchise best opening of $57M. The opening is the highest for Lionsgate since November 2015's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2's $102.6M opening. The growth of this franchise is just amazing & let's just remember that this opening for the third film is higher than the entire box office run of the first John Wick movie. The film earned an A- CinemaScore so word of mouth should continue to drive business in the weeks ahead.

3. Seventy songs were used in the first thirteen episodes.

4. Several times during filming they had to stop rolling to tell Kevin McHale (Artie) to stop tapping his feet to the beat of the music.
.
.
5. Darren Criss got the part of Blaine after a nationwide open audition, in which anyone could upload a video onto Glee's Myspace page singing one of two songs they allowed. He originally auditioned for the role of Finn.
.
.
6. Cory Monteith didn't sing in his first audition video. He instead produced a beat using makeshift drums. The producers liked his personality and originality so much they called his agent and requested he fly to Los Angeles for a live audition.
.
.
7. The role of Quinn Fabray was not cast until the night before filming began.
.
.
8. The character of Kurt was written for Chris Colfer after he originally auditioned for the role of Artie. The writers told him that he looked like one of the Von Trapp kids, and Chris told them he actually just starred in The Sound of Music, playing Kurt Von Trapp. This obviously stuck in the writers' mind, as they called his character Kurt Hummel (the surname after the cherubic figurines).

News Reelz: Happy anniversary to Star Wars:Episode I - The Phantom Menace, released 20 years ago today! This is a truly polarizing film that unfortunately hasn't gotten better with age. Duel of the Fates is great as is Darth Maul but the film is disserviced by George Lucas' mediocre writing & directing & it lacks the magic and imagination of the original trilogy. Are you a fan of The Phantom Menace? Sound off! In the meantime, here are some fun facts about the film:
.
.
1. Sets were built only as high as the tops of the actors' heads, and computer graphics filled in the rest. Liam Neeson was so tall that he cost the set crew an extra $150,000 in construction.
.
.
2. During filming, Ewan McGregor made lightsaber noises as he dueled. It was noted and corrected during post-production.
.
.
3. Natalie Portman (Queen Amidala) missed the premiere party in New York City because she had to go home to study for her high school final exams.
.
.
4. Natalie Portman's voice was digitally enhanced to distinguish between Padmé and Queen Amidala.
.
.
5. During the first week of the first trailer's release, many theaters reported up to seventy-five percent of their audiences paying full price for a movie, then walking out after the Star Wars: Episode I trailer was shown.
.
.
6. When fully dressed and in make-up, Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley resembled each other so much that even Knightley's mother, Sharman Macdonald, who visited the set, had trouble identifying her own daughter.
.
.
7. Twentieth Century Fox released the first trailer with strict instructions that it not be shown before a certain date. When a Canadian movie theater accidentally showed it a day early, they lost the rights to show the movie.
.
.
8. Liam Neeson was so eager to be in the film that he signed on without having read the script.

9. Jake Lloyd retired from acting because of the intense bullying he endured after playing Anakin in this film.

News Reelz: Avengers: Endgame may have dropped to second place to an impressive debut from John Wick: Chapter 3 but it achieved a major milestone over the weekend. It's now the second highest-grossing film of all-time at the domestic box office.
.
.
With a gross of $29.4M this weekend, Endgame has domestic running total of $770.8M. That tops the final domestic gross of Avatar which totaled $760M. Technically Endgame beat it twice as Avatar originally grossed $749M but a re-release pushed it to $760M.
.
.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the domestic champ with $936M and Endgame is losing steam too fast to reach that milestone but its box office run is still impressive considering it hasn't had any major holidays in play to boost its box office. Memorial Day weekend should allow it one more strong weekend but I'm thinking it tops out around $850M.
.
.
Now all eyes will be on it topping the global total of Avatar which ended its run at $2.78B worldwide. The film made another $76M overseas which brings its global total to $2.615B. It's now only $173M away from topping Avatar on the global front. The “Will it pass Avatar?” question is now too close to call & honestly I'm too afraid to call it haha.
