@voice_of_the_millennial The word “homosexual” was never in the Bible until the 20th century. The verse “man shall not lie with man” is not translated correctly and means “man shall not lie with boy” - it is about pedophilia. It was common for Roman rulers to castrate adolescent boys and make them their “Queens” in Biblical times. Orgies and sexual relations (homo and hetero) were also done as part of rituals to praise false idols. For perspective, the Bible also: • Forbids tattoos • Says women should not speak in Church • Says that divorce is only acceptable if there is adultery or if your partner is not Christian. Emotional and physical abuse in a marriage does not warrant a divorce as per the Bible. Paul, the same man who wrote “man shall not lie with man” is the same author who wrote that women should not speak in Church. One verse is followed, but the other is not. Why is that? Because the context of current times is not the same as it was when the verse was originally written. There is a reason certain verses in the Bible are not followed in current times. It is because verses in the Bible were written only for a certain audience at a specific time because people were involved in rituals/actions that disrupted the worship of God for others, mimicked a group of people practicing idolatry, were part of orgies/sexual rituals tied to idolatry, and many more reasons. If a person is arguing using a verse from the Bible, ask them to explain 1) Who wrote the verse 2) What group of people was the verse written for 3) What were the people doing at the time that required the verse to be written. If they cannot explain the context of a verse, then they are abusing scripture to promote inaccurate/discriminatory ideology. #KnowledgeIsPower
